Language and Culture
Geography and geographical location of Nandigram upazila have played a role in the formation of language and culture of the people of this upazila. This upazila is surrounded by the upazilas of Uttara Ganobhaban, Rajshahi and Rangpur Division of northern region of Bangladesh. The main features of the language are only in the other upazilas of Bangladesh, but some diversity is found. For example, the language of liberation is largely absent, that is, language simplification tendency. Nandigram has a profound influence on human behavior, eating habits, language, culture, the nature of the river and the Gandhadity river.
In the name of Nandigram, history has been reviewed and it is seen that the paternal residence of Nandini, the second wife of King Dasharath of Akoddha, was in this area and King Dasarath named it as Nandi village in the area. Later, the village of Nandini is now known as Nandigram.
In this upazila, there are many ponds, including the pond of Bandarpur, Muradpur's pond, which have been dug by the king and the zamindars for the hardships of the past, the happiness-dukh pukur of Durjoypur, the Panchghati pond, and the pond of Muradpur are standing in the temples of this upazila. Due to this being a flood-free area and due to numerous ponds, the demand of fish needs to be met, the land of the land is brought to the ground and the two-chambered house, which is built by the comfortable soil for the living, is in the age of ages. Omarpur Hat-Bazar is also famous for many decades as the famous hut of Bogra district.
Kahalu and Shajahanpur upazilas on the north, Singra upazila of Natore district on the south, Sherpur upazila on the south, Adamdighi upazila and Naogaon district atrai upazila on the west. The area of the upazila is 266 sq km. Founded as the upazila in 1983 Dr. Shafiul Alam (Bulu) was elected as the first chairman of the Upazila Parishad election in 1984. Nandigram Municipality is formed in 5 union of this upazila with partial part of Nandigram Union. For the upazila's land is more fertile, rice is widely grown here.
